  • A Luxury Car with a Toyota Badge

As a Realtor, it was time to find a comfortable and luxurious sedan that didn't look too showy. I had looked at the previous generation of Avalons, but when I took the 2019 out for a test ride was sold! The fold down seats, smooth power, handling, and luxury feel are unlike any Toyota I've driven. I bought the Touring in Red with Graphite interior and the Advanced Safety Package. The car is very enjoyable to drive, my clients love riding in it, the fuel economy is exceptional (34 MPG highway and over 24 combined) and the acceleration is strong. The different drive modes change the car's character, and there is a slight delay in the throttle response that takes some getting used to compared to conventional cable direct throttles. The tires can make some muted "thumping" on the highway that the dealer says is normal. These are my only minor issues on an exceptional sedan that turns heads and checks all the boxes.
  • Really Nice Riding Car, But......

When I first test drove the Avalon Touring, its smooth quiet ride caught my attention. Watched all the videos and reviews and I was very confident. The Power was great. The aggressive facia. Those rear progressive brake lights. Cold start is growling. Not a Grandpa car anymore. I didn't like the fact you couldn't lock the glove box, the drivers position memory seat was not linked to either key. No panoramic roof like the Camry. Worst of all was the gas mileage.76 miles at about 70mph round trip for four days, 305-310miles all hwy in Eco mode and had to refuel with about 13-14 gallons each time. My Accord Touring fuel economy was above 525miles, though it had 1.4gals more in fuel capacity. Was actually averaging 22-24 Mpg/Hwy, not the Toyota/EPA claimed 31mpg/hwy. For some reason it burned thru the first half tank really fast. The second half a tank appears to burn much slower. Toyota ran tests and said all the components are working said there's nothing wrong with the car. Claimed it was driver habits. The road test done by Toyota was approximately 44 miles and used a tad more than a 1/4 tank, they clamed it was normal. I traded it in for another Brand. Never Again will I buy a Toyota.

Road Noise on Drivers Side Rear when accelerating above 45 MPH. Around 62 MPH has a constant rattle. Working with a Toyota Corporate Service Provider to try to fix the problem with dealership. Had a 2011 Avalon which was a more comfortable ride.
